History |

In
mid-September 2003, the vision was conceived in
Pastor Dennis’ heart to plant
a church in the South West community of Durham to
be named New Covenant Baptist Church of the Triangle.
Pastor Kathy “caught the vision” and “ran
with it”. She prayed and fasted in order to
write the vision for New Covenant Baptist of the
Triangle, along with Pastor Lindsay’s guidance.
As part of
the ministry launch, the Lord gave the pastors
a vision for a two-day
spirit-filled Conference to launch the new Church
and ministry, and they began to seek the Lord for
clarity of vision for the speakers, locations, and
dates/times. As a purpose-driven ministry, it was
in early November 2003 that the Lord unveiled the
plan for the “I Have a Dream” Visionary
Conference, designed to spiritually equip and empower
the saints for pursuit of divine destiny and purpose,
which was held on Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend,
coinciding with the “birth” of the new
church and ministry. |

The
Church was incorporated in the state of North Carolina
as a non-profit organization in late October 2003, and
subsequently acquired IRS 501 (c) 3 non-profit status
in mid-2004.
New Covenant Baptist began to worship
the Lord “in spirit and in truth” on Sunday,
January 4, 2004. While we have a very traditional name,
our services are without the traditional “flavor”.
We enjoy contemporary music, mime and dance ministry,
and we worship in a very warmhearted and spirited atmosphere,
always focusing on the love of Jesus Christ. Each week we delight in hearing a fresh and inspiring
Word from the Lord through Pastor Dennis or Pastor Kathy
(or both on occasion) that is both relevant and applicable
to our daily lives - all while discovering the truth of
God’s Holy Word.
At our New Year's Day Worship Service 2006, having been
led by the Spirit of the Lord, Pastors Dennis and Kathy
announced an immediate name change for the church/ministry
to New Covenant Christian Church of the Triangle, Inc.,
which would reveal the heart of the ministry which is our
faith as Christians of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

To
share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Christian
love and effective witnessing in order to draw
the lost to Christ;
To promote Christian family values, Holy
living, biblical principals and spiritual
unity that will facilitate spiritual growth
and maturity in the Body of Christ;
To provide Christian discipleship education
and training that will help each believer
recognize and honor God’s divine purpose
for their lives;
To provide a spiritual atmosphere, through
the Anointing of the Holy Spirit, that will
bring about salvation and healing, as well
as “stir up the gifts”, and equip
and empower members for evangelistic ministry
in the Church, community and beyond;
To facilitate an individual understanding
that “…all things work together
for good to them that are the called according
to His purpose” so that corporately
we can honor the great commandment to “Go
ye therefore…”

Scripture
Inspired
The bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from
God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and
is superior to human conscience and reason, but not contrary
to reason. (2 Tim. 3:15-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; Heb. 4:12).
The One True Godhead
We believe in the Triune God – the Eternally Self-Existent,
the Creator of heaven and earth and Redeemer of mankind
manifested in three persons; Almighty Father, Divine Son
and Holy Ghost. (Gen. 1:1, John 5:7, John 1:1, 4:24, Matt.
10:20, II Cor. 3:17-18).
The Deity of Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, the incarnation
of the Father, born of a virgin, by whom all things
were created (John 1:1-5; I John 1:1-10).
|
Man,
His Fall and Redemption
Man was created good and upright, for God said, “Let us make man in our
image, after our likeness”. But man, by voluntary transgression, fell
and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (Gen. 3,
John 3)
God’s Plan of Salvation
for Man
We believe in the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ, that He, by the grace
of God, tasted death for every man as our substitute for sin, and that all
must be born again through faith in Him or are forever lost. Redemption is
accomplished by the cross and through the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ; by God’s grace, and through faith, personal confession, and a
belief in the heart that God raised Him from the dead. Salvation, therefore,
is by Jesus Christ alone and none other. (Phil. 2:9-11, Heb. 2:9, John 3:1-18,
John 6:44-49, Eph. 2:8, Romans 10:9)
Victorious Living & Authority
of the Believer
We believe in the authority of the believer over the enemy satan and the victory
to be gained by the exercise of that authority in the areas of restoration,
healing and holiness. (Eph. 1:20-23, 6:7-10). We believe that satan is the
Christian’s enemy, but he suffers ultimate defeat by the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Rev. 12:9-10, Matt. 4:2-11, Isaiah 14: 12-17, Luke 10:19-20; Eph. 6: John
8).
Holy Ordinances of the Church
We believe in Water Baptism (full submersion) and Holy Communion (The Lord's
Supper) as the two ordinances of the church. Both ordinances are to be observed
as public declaration of salvation through Jesus Christ and the commemoration
of His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension in victory over satan,
death, hell and the grave. (Matt. 3: 11,14, 26:26-29,
Luke 22:17-23).

The Promise of the Father
All believers are promised and should seek the Baptism in the Holy Spirit,
according to the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ. With the Baptism of
the Holy Spirit comes an endowment of power for life and service, the bestowment
of the spiritual gifts and their subsequent uses in the work of the ministry
of Jesus Christ (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-8; 1 Cor. 12:1-31).
The Church
The Church is synonymous with the “Body of Christ”, the habitation
of God through the Holy Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment
of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Each believer, born of the Holy
Spirit, is an internal part of the general assembly and church of the firstborn,
whose names are written in Heaven.
(Eph. 1:22-23; 2:19-22; Heb. 12:23; Rom. 12:4-5; Luke 10:20). |
Autonomy of
the Local Church
We believe in the autonomy of the local church as an independent entity with
regard to matters of government, polity, operation and discipline.
(I Corinthians 5:5; II Thess. 3:6, 14-15, Acts 11:22, Titus 1:5).
Blessed Hope
Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, is coming again to gather all His Saints
to Himself (I Cor. 15:51-52; I Thess. 4:16-17; and II Thess. 2:1). We believe
in the personal pre-millenial, second advent of Jesus to earth. We believe
in the pre-tribulation rapture of all born-again believers (I Thess. 4:13-18;
Matthew 24). |
